I’ll be honest, not a whole lot happened this year. Living with my new roommates came with its own complications that I was able to live through, even though we all thought we weren’t going to make it. But we managed to stay out of homelessness. During the year I haven’t had a lot of things to write about but when I did, it was me ranting about life and my profession. Last year I mentioned how I started getting into book writing. Which in itself came with a lot of plans being cancelled and sleepless night.

Last time I mentioned it I was on chapter nine of the first draft. Now I am working on chapter seven of the second draft. Honestly the plan is to finish each draft by the end of the original start date. Which will always be a goal, but I won’t try to make a mug about it if that goal isn’t met. Comparing the first and second drafts makes them seem like almost different stories. Mainly because the first draft is multi-perspective, and the second draft is singular perspective. The different perspectives were configured, shortened, divided, and/or moved into different parts of the story. I kind of liked the idea of having a multi-perspective book. I’m honestly thinking about turning it back, but maybe in the third or fourth draft. I also intend on making it a duology.

I’m working on two other books. The other is a cute little story I thought about. About how two friends that marry so one person can leave their brith country for good. As I am writing this, I was thinking about all the things I wanted to mention after this. My mind is always on work mode on what I can do for my books. I was also going to mention that I have been trying to learn French. The thought of wanting to learn it as soon as possible has been rattling in my brain for the longest time. However I haven’t been keeping up with it since, I was only doing it for the hell of it. Now I have a reason. My book, Only for a reason, will be taking place from France to Quebec, or vice verse. The whole book will be in French. That will be my motivation. I’m sometimes grateful and annoyed with how my brain focuses on things.

The other book I am working on is a series that I have been wanting to make since December of 2019. At first it was supposed to be a comic, with very explicit and traumatic content. A rated R series. I won’t go into detail about it, but I did have to take it down, several notches. I kept trying to work on it as a way to improve my art style up until March 2022. When I decided to turn it into a book. I was already working on other pieces then so I figured why not. I was getting frustrated in not making any progress in my art style so fuck it. Not to mention that so much has changed. I literally combined several different ideas and “future”books into one whole series. Some dating back to November 2018. I’m super excited about it, although I kind of want to scrap the first two books since the main story resides in the final three books. I mainly wanted to make a series where the first letter of each book spell the name of the world. Who knows.

Earlier I mentioned that I had to cancel a lot of plans. One of those plans was going back to school. I wanted to go back to GRCC in winter 2024, but I forgot to pay my financial aid bill, so their system dropped my classes. Of course this deterred me, but instead I learned from it and gave it one more try. I made sure that everything was I needed to do for the upcoming fall semester was done and stayed on top of everything. Until it wasn’t. The transaction for my financial aid never went through and I wasn’t able to access my account to correct it. At that point I did give up. If I’m being honest, having to watch over, ensuring financial aid was approved and everything was extremely stressful. So I tried my luck in going straight to GVSU. I didn’t get in because of my high school GPA, but it’s not like it really mattered anyway. I was planning on becoming a journalist and work for BBC in their health division. It hurt me, but only because I wanted to work in an office with people I could work with that would share the same ideas as me. Even working in a different country. However, those dreams were far away and I was a little too impatient anyways. I wanted to start working in office jobs where I could become a writer before getting my degree.

Am I hurt by this? I am. But I can prevail on. Now, I’m going to continue being an author while also working up the ranks at my job. Having to deal with school and being a part of leadership, among many other things, would have been hell. So, I’m not terribly upset that things didn’t work out. Instead I look on the bright side. This month I started a new routine for myself. And with the new money boost, I can continue that routine for a while.

I’m eating breakfast and dinner while having some healthy snacks in between the day, if I don’t work that day. And speaking of my off days, Those days I don’t cook myself breakfast. I go out and have breakfast. Specifically Starbucks. I want to venture out to other cafés eventually. I’ve also renewed my membership with YMCA and every morning on my days off I go swimming. This new plan of mine will be a little less strict of I wasn’t such a major spender.

Especially with this tooth. Earlier in the year I have to get a tooth of mine removed. Now I finally got an appointment to remove the other one that has been causing me problems. Much like last time, I’m most likely going to have to not spend any money this week since it’s going to cost $400 for removal. But at least it will be worth it. Although I wish I would have requested to push it to next week Thursday, but it’s a little too late now. The date has been set for this Friday. Hopefully next week goes by quick, and I’ll be too busy for anything else.

Other than that, there’s nothing really else to mention. That should be all that has happened this year.
