I know it's not my place, and I'm not exactly the best at motivational stuff. However with everything that's been going on for the past few years it's very important to look after yourself so you don't confuse a brief moment of happiness with a moment of distraction from the pain and sorrow.
You can’t allow others to break you anymore than they have already.
You have to prove to them that you are stronger than steel. You have to prove that you can shine brighter than the sun; that you can succeed; that you will get the last laugh.
You have to show them that you don't need their negativity; that you are strong. Because true strength is having the ability to see another second, minute, hour, day, month, year, and decade of your life.
There will be people who don't understand you and won't even try to understand who you are. There will be people who won't even hear your side of the story.
But that doesn't account for everyone.
There will always be someone to give you an ear, a hand, a shoulder, a hug, and the time out of their day to make sure your smile is genuine and not drawn on.
You are important. Please take care of yourselves. I don't know what everyone is going through and I try not to pretend like I do. But if I slip up, then stop me. Because I am basically telling how you should live your life. The words you speak, are what makes the surface of your island. But the emotions behind them is a cave system underneath. Where the only way in is if you let them.
It may feel uncomfortable to seek help from others since you're more comfortable being closed off and hidden from everyone. You’ve spent so many years in despair that you don’t want to change, because being in despair is your normal. No matter how you wish it wasn’t. Almost every time you hear a motivation speech, you might get upset while thinking to yourself that it’s too late for you to change your life around. That you can’t be weak to be strong, but you can.
You’ve grown so used to being someone else’s punching bag, that you imagined this is how your life is going to be from now on. Even when you are blindsided by seeing a future farther than what you’re going to do after work tomorrow or next week. Whether it's because of pride, shame, fear, or anything of the sorts. No one should have to suffer in their own thoughts alone.
Know that if you are seeking out help, that you can’t expect to feel better by yesterday. It must be aggravating to hear this again, but a journey like this takes more than a couple years.
“It’s okay to not be okay.”
A phrase only seen through from its surface. I’m not really sure what it means myself but if I had to guess. It probably means that… You are hurt and broken, and that’s okay. Just let it all out and find someone to hold you together as you fall apart. You don’t have to hold it in any longer. Although it won’t be the first person you see. But there will always be someone.
I believe in you. I believe everyone has the strength to grow their own independence.
